Do not forget to bring your pets inside when it is too cold outside. IF IT IS TOO COLD FOR YOU, IT IS TOO COLD FOR THEM! The law says: During cold weather, a dog shelter must have a windbreak at its entrance and have bedding material that is sufficient to protect the animal from cold and promote the retention of body heat.
We are urgently seeking fosters to help us with our dogs until the renovations are done. If you are available today or Monday, we would love to have you come and meet these sweet dogs.

These dogs are at Surry County Animal Shelter, Elberon, Virginia
- The dog adoption fee is $90.
- Adoption of dogs is open to residents of Prince George, Sussex, Southampton, Isle of Wight, James City, and Charles City areas of VA..
- Adopters must sign a sterilization agreement to have the adopted pet spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.
- Adopters must return the proof of sterilization paperwork within seven (7) days of dog being spayed or neutered.
- Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to anyone including out of state residents.
